Sandwiches with beets and herring

Pickled herring starts with salted herring fillets. The fillet is soaked cold water for 6-12 hours to remove the saltiness. They are then placed in a marinade where they are usually marinated for at least 24 hours. The basic marinade consists of vinegar, sugar and spices. However, Danish chefs have developed countless recipes with ingredients such as sour cream, onions, mustard, dill, sherry and tomatoes.

Ingredients:

  • Brown bread – a few slices.
  • Herring fillet – 120 g.
  • Tomato – 300 g.
  • Olives - several pieces.
  • Pickled cucumber – 1 pc.
  • Red pepper – 50 g.
  • Butter – 40 g.
  • Paprika and black pepper - to taste.

Cooking method:

  1. The butter must first be softened. Add paprika and black pepper to it. To stir thoroughly. The amount of paprika should be such that the oil acquires a beautiful shade.
  2. Seal and refrigerate container for at least 24 hours or up to three days before serving. Lined in cafe windows, served in specialty restaurants and packed in their own lunch boxes, sandwiches are everywhere in Denmark. They piled up with pickled herring, dollops of hot horseradish cream and mounds fresh shrimp. But forget what you think about sandwiches, these guys are in a whole different class.

Sandwiches with herring and black bread

To make delicious herring sandwiches, you don’t have to use expensive ingredients or complex recipes. Herring is a delicious product in itself, so decorating the sandwich beautifully is enough so that the dish can even be placed on a holiday table. Great option will be a combination of black bread and herring. Additionally, it is recommended to decorate the dish with egg and herbs.

Ingredients:

  • Herring fillet – 100 g.
  • Brown bread - 4 slices.
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Fresh cucumber – 1 pc.
  • Mayonnaise to taste.
  • Greenery.

Cooking method:

  1. The egg should be boiled and cut into four parts. Cut the cucumber into thin slices. Remove the bones from the herring and also cut into small slices.
  2. Place a slice of herring, a slice of cucumber, another slice of herring and a quarter of an egg on a piece of black bread. Top with parsley or green couscous and mayonnaise.
  3. Additionally, you can sprinkle with pepper. Ready dish perfect as light snack on the festive table.

Sandwiches with black bread and olives

Sandwiches with herring are an excellent appetizer for various drinks or as a snack. However, you can’t make a simple sandwich, the basis of which will be bread, herring and butter. If you show your imagination, a sandwich with herring can become a real work of art. It can be prepared with a variety of colorful vegetables and fresh herbs.

Ingredients:

  • Herring – 100 g.
  • Fresh cucumber – 1 pc.
  • Bulgarian red pepper - a small piece.
  • Olives - several pieces.
  • Mayonnaise or butter.
  • Black bread.

Cooking method:

  1. First you need to cut the herring, separating the bones from it. If desired, you can purchase herring fillets, but they are usually less tasty. The prepared herring fillet should be cut into thin slices. Read more:
  2. Mix mayonnaise or soft butter with fresh dill and black pepper. Fresh cucumber should be cut into thin slices. bell pepper also cut into thin and long strips.
  3. Slice the black bread and then cut it in half to form triangles. Spread slices of bread with the prepared mayonnaise base, place slices of herring, cucumbers and bell peppers on them.
