  • Cold plain water- 25 ml.
  • Gelatin - 5 g.

  • Fresh viburnum (or fresh cranberries)
  • Fresh parsley

Preparation:

1. Peel potatoes, carrots, beets. We boiled them the night before. Ours are cold.

2. Fill the gelatin with cold water and set aside until it swells.

3. For this salad, we usually take a whole herring, clean it and fillet it. She's juicier and tastier than that fillet, which is sold ready-made. Cut the fillet into small pieces.

4. Peel the onion, cut into small pieces, and add to the fillet. Season the herring and onions with a spoon of unrefined sunflower oil.

Well, if someone doesn’t like unrefined, replace it with anything. But keep in mind, unrefined sunflower oil very aromatic and gives special taste salad, even in small quantities.

5. Mix everything well and set it aside for now.

Lay out the grated potatoes, in a layer slightly narrower than the layer of carrots, press down, coat with mayonnaise.

  • Place chopped eggs on top of the potatoes in a thin layer. Coat with mayonnaise. In the center of the roll, along its length, place chopped herring with finely chopped onion. Roll everything into a roll using cling film. Place in the refrigerator for 3 hours. It will be best if the roll stands in the cold all night.
  • Before serving, carefully remove the film, cut the roll into pieces, and decorate with herbs.

  • For this salad design under a fur coat, you will need, in addition to the main ingredients, a long French loaf, gherkins, processed cheese And butter.
  • Cut the loaf lengthwise from one side. Use your hand to scoop out the entire crumb and leave the sides about 1 cm thick.
  • Prepare the dressing - grate the eggs and cheese, mix them with soft butter, salt and pepper. Set aside 1/3 of the mixture. Mix the remaining 2/3 with grated beets, place in the loaf, spreading along the walls. Place greens on top. On top of this layer we place gherkins and small pieces of herring fillet.
  • Apply the remaining 1/3 of the dressing to the slices of the baguette, align them and wrap them very tightly with several layers of cling film. Place the roll in the refrigerator for 3 hours. We take it out after the specified period of time, cut it into pieces 1 cm thick, and serve.
  • If you fasten the edges of the loaf carefully, the cut point will not be noticeable. Please pay special attention, if you replace butter with mayonnaise, the roll will not work!

Prepare the ingredients needed for the salad.

  • Take a pack of gelatin and dilute it according to the instructions for back side. Cool until room temperature, and mix with 300 g of mayonnaise. Mix the products prepared for the “fur coat” separately with the mayonnaise-gelatin mass.
  • Let's take it beautiful shape and begin to lay out the layers in the following sequence - chopped greens, beets, diced, boiled potatoes, diced, pieces of herring with chopped onions, again beets in cubes. Ready salad place in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
  • When you see that the herring under the coat has frozen, dip the form with the salad in hot water for 2-3 seconds. Cover with a wide dish and quickly turn it over onto the prepared dish. You can decorate the salad with herbs on top.

You can decorate a familiar salad in such an original way that it will become the main decoration of any holiday table.

Fish decoration

Most a simple way to decorate a salad under a fur coat. To do this, place the “fur coat” on a fish-shaped dish. Using mayonnaise we draw scales on top. You can also do this with thin onion half rings. We make eyes out of egg circles. We cut out fins, tails and lips from carrots and beets!

We lay out the “fur coat” in an oblong shape. We insert the head of the herring into the salad at one end, and the tail at the opposite end. Between the tail and head, using mayonnaise, draw a fish skeleton.
