The consistency of the mastic should be like elastic dough; its readiness can be judged by the fact that it stops sticking to your hands.




2. Gelatin based mastic. It is convenient to form shaped decorations from this type of mastic. The recipe is not complicated.

You will need:

Gelatin – 10-15 g;
Water – 2 tbsp. l.;
Lemon juice – 1 tsp;
Powdered sugar – 500 gr.

Soak the gelatin, then heat over low heat until completely dissolved. The mixture must be stirred constantly, not allowing it to boil. Pour half the amount of powder onto the table, form a mound, pour in lemon juice and diluted gelatin, knead, add the rest of the powder. Knead the mixture until smooth, wrap in film and refrigerate.

3. Milk mastic



This universal recipe, it makes equally good cake coverings and molding elements. To prepare you need:
Powdered milk – 200 g;
Condensed milk – 1 can;
Powdered sugar – 200 gr;
Lemon juice – 1 tbsp.

Mix the powder with dry milk, lemon juice, everything is mixed. Add condensed milk and stir. If the mixture crumbles, add more lemon juice.

4. Honey mastic mass




The recipe is suitable for those who like it healthy treats. To prepare you will need:

Powdered sugar - 400 gr.;
Honey - 2 tbsp;
Butter – 2 tbsp;
Gelatin – 1 pack;
Water – 7 tbsp.

Dissolve gelatin in water and cool. Then add butter and honey, stir until smooth. Add half the powder, mix again, add the second half, mix the mass again. The mastic with honey should be firm and elastic.

Rules for handling mastic



To prevent the sweet mass from sticking to the table, we use starch.
Storage of mastic is allowed in sealed packaging so that the uniformity of the composition is not compromised.
Decorative elements made from mastic can be coated with a honey-vodka mixture in a 1:1 ratio. The smell of alcohol will disappear, and the elements from it will acquire a glossy shine.
To make mastic of different colors, instead of food coloring, you can use natural juice: blueberry, cherry strawberry
If we add dyes, we must mix the mixture thoroughly so that the color is uniform.

To decorate cakes, you can use a combined style: icing is combined with mastic figures, or the top is decorated with cream and pieces of fruit.

Chocolate decorations








We inherited this recipe from our grandmothers. Melt the chocolate in a water bath and pour it into a special bag with a hole. Thus, we decorate the mastic cake with openwork elements: snowflakes, Christmas trees, snowdrifts. Chocolate or mastic figures can be placed vertically; this composition of the New Year’s cake will look elegant. White chocolate and marzipan make snowy landscapes (snow, snowflakes, snowmen), and dark chocolate makes Christmas trees or houses.
