Or a nightstand with an inexhaustible supply of gold by the bed? Or is the point of the holiday to spend all the money on caviar and truffles, and then spend the whole of January eating pasta that you made yourself?”

I live in reality, not a fairy tale. I have little money, and relatives who want to come visit New Year holidays, a lot. Yes, I want to meet them with joy, feed them nourishingly and tasty. But at the same time, I have no desire to show off and prove with the language of delicacies that my life is a success.

There is one more condition in the task conditions. Relatives include people of the older generation who are accustomed to traditional dishes and cannot imagine the New Year without Olivier, herring under a fur coat and other Soviet delicacies. Everything is simple here:

1. A shopping list is compiled from the menu and everything is purchased in bulk at the nearest store. All products are available and can be purchased at any convenience store.

2. The total amount on the check was 2311 rubles (purchases were made in one of the supermarkets in St. Petersburg). At the time of purchase 2311 rubles = 32.6 $

When purchasing, we chose inexpensive ones, but quality products. Including those that had a discount (this saved 110 rubles).

3. The total amount on the check is always greater than the actual amount spent on the holiday. Because the container, as a rule, contains more product than you need according to the menu. Example: I need 1 tsp. adjika, but the smallest jar I found is 150 ml. Therefore, you have to buy the whole jar and use a small part.

I wasn’t too lazy and calculated the exact cost of all purchases for this particular menu (glory to Excel and formulas!). The amount turned out to be less - 1895 rubles = $26.8
