So, a saucepan with appetizing potatoes gurgled on the stove, wonderful chicken chops languished in the oven, but ... But, in my opinion, something was still missing! Of course, how can a full lunch or dinner be complete without bright juicy vegetables?

Looking into the refrigerator, I found half a small head of red cabbage and a jar of sour cream standing alone on the side shelf. And then I remembered a wonderful recipe that a friend recently shared with me! Delicious red cabbage salad with sour cream was a great addition to our family dinner!

To make red cabbage salad with sour cream, you will need :

red cabbage - ½ head
apples - 2 pcs.
onion - 1 pc.
sour cream - 1/3 tbsp.
mayonnaise - 1/3 tbsp.
apple cider vinegar - 3 tbsp. l.
cumin - ½ tsp
sugar - ½ tsp
ground black pepper - ¼ tsp.
salt - to taste
fresh parsley for garnish

How to make red cabbage salad with sour cream :

1. Peel off the top leaves and stalk of a medium-sized head of red cabbage. Using a sharp knife, a special grater or a food processor, chop the cabbage into thin strips.
2. Since red cabbage is quite tough, you should transfer the chopped vegetable to a bowl, add a little salt and lightly mash with your hands. Set the bowl of cabbage aside for a moment.
3. Peel one small onion, wash and finely chop with a knife. Add chopped onion to cabbage, mix vegetables.
4. Prepare dressing. Put sour cream and mayonnaise in a small bowl, add cumin seeds, apple cider vinegar, sugar, ground black pepper and salt to taste.

Mix all dressing ingredients thoroughly.
5. Wash two large apples, dry them, peel them from the stalks and seed pods. Grate the apples on a coarse grater, mix with the vegetable mass.
6. Immediately pour the dressing over the salad and mix well. The vinegar in the dressing will keep the apples from browning, so the fruit should be added last.
