A coffee machine in the home arsenal of household appliances will allow you to enjoy your favorite high-quality drink at any time. With the help of such devices, you can quickly and easily brew any coffee drink. The leaders in the international market among coffee makers are models from Nescafe. In this article, we will look at instructions for Dolce Gusto.

What are the types of coffee machines?

There are many varieties of coffee machines that differ in functionality:

  1. Horn. One of the easiest devices to use. There is no special variety of drinks that can be prepared with them - only espresso is available for brewing.
  2. Portion. According to the principle of operation, such devices are very similar to carob coffee machines. The main difference is that in portions, not a horn with a tablet, but a pod is used.
  3. Capsular. They are rightfully considered leaders among such devices for home use. To prepare any coffee drink, you need to insert a special capsule.
  4. Automatic. Ideal for home use due to the wide variety of drinks. The whole process of making coffee is fully automated.

An ideal option for home use is a capsule coffee machine. The ground and completely ready to preparation coffee beans are in tight packings. You only need to load one into the machine. The Dolce Gusto line includes high quality capsule-type coffee machines:

  • Piccolo.
  • Circollo.
  • Oblo.
  • Melody, etc.

They are produced jointly with the German company Krups.

How to use the coffee machine correctly?

There are several basic rules for operating any type of coffee machine:

  1. Be sure to use clean drinking water to prepare the drink.
  2. Do not load poor quality raw materials into the machine. This can not only significantly impair the taste of the drink, but also lead to machine breakdown.
  3. It is strictly forbidden to use anything other than coffee beans as raw materials.
  4. Wash the parts of the coffee machine regularly and descale them.
  5. Always wait until all parts are completely dry before reuse.

Why study the manual?

The instruction manual is a document that must be read before using the coffee machine. Why is it necessary to study it?

Firstly, knowledge of the main points of the instructions and their observance can significantly extend the life of the device.

Secondly, it is from this document that you will learn about the additional features of the coffee machine (for example, the "Quick start" function).

Thirdly, not every coffee machine is fully automated. There are a large number of models on the market that are equipped with horns, pods and other bean containers. It will be quite difficult to cope on your own, without knowing the instructions.

Instructions for Dolce Gusto coffee machines can be downloaded from the official website of the manufacturer. In the appropriate section, select your model and type of device (mechanics or automatic). Click the button to start the file upload procedure.

capsule system

The Nescafe Dolce Gusto family is a type of capsule coffee maker. A special "smart capsule" is used to prepare drinks. This capsule allows you to keep the original taste of coffee for a long time and regulate the pressure at which a particular drink should be prepared.

And how to cook?

The cooking process looks like this:

  1. You insert the capsule into the capsule holder and slide it into the coffee maker.
  2. Clamp the capsule and at the same time pierce it with a hollow needle
  3. Tilt the water lever and pour the recommended amount of drink
  4. Return the water supply lever to its original position.
  5. Take out and discard the capsule
  6. The coffee is ready, you can enjoy your drink

As you can see, the brewing process is simplified compared to conventional espresso machines. On each package with capsules there is a visual instruction for preparing the drink, indicating the recommended amount of water. Thanks to the capsule system, Nescafe Dolce Gusto practically does not need to be washed. The entire process of brewing coffee takes place in a sealed capsule.

Nestle and capsules

The capsules are manufactured by Nestle. Enterprises for the production of capsules are located in Spain and England. "Smart capsule" contains a perforated membrane, which allows you to evenly distribute pressure up to 15 bar, which is necessary for making high-quality espresso. The structure of each capsule varies depending on the type of drink.

Nestle chose to use a variety of coffee - 100% Arabica in ground form. Nescafe Dolce Gusto is able to prepare not only black coffee, but also milk drinks such as Latte, Cappuccino, Hot Chocolate and Mocha. For the preparation of milk drinks, 2 capsules are used: milk and coffee. The milk capsule contains powdered milk similar in composition to the famous Nestle milk formulas. Due to the fact that milk powder is used, the shelf life of the capsules is extended (12 months) and useful substances are preserved.

At the moment, there are 16 different types of drinks, of which 15 are coffee and 1 is spiced tea. Capsules are sold in a package of 16 pieces (if it is a drink containing milk, then 8 coffee and 8 milk capsules per package, respectively), capsules are sold in most electronics supermarkets or on the company's website at a recommended average price of 280 rubles per pack.

Krups and the technical side of the issue

The German company Krups took over the production function of the coffee maker mechanism itself. Nescafe Dolce Gusto is assembled in China at a licensed factory. But now you will not surprise anyone with this, half of the world's goods are collected there.

The device is a housing with a built-in thermoblock necessary for heating, and a pump for pumping water. Water, passing through the coffee maker, is heated under high pressure and then enters the capsule through a hollow needle, where the brewing process takes place, after which the capsule is pierced from below and the finished coffee enters the cup. I would like to note that the water does not boil, but heats up to about 87 degrees Celsius, which allows you to save the beneficial properties of coffee oils.

The Nescafe Dolce Gusto has a rather powerful pump, and therefore there is some vibration that prevents light plastic cups from standing still. With ordinary ceramic mugs, this situation does not arise.

In fact, coffee makers differ only in the design and volume of the water tank, while maintaining their full functionality.

Tank sizes by models:

  • Circolo - 1.3 liters

  • Melody 3 - 1.3 liters

  • Melody 2 - 1.5 liters
  • Piccolo - 0.6 liters

To start working, the thermoblock needs to warm up for about 40 seconds. These coffee makers consume 1500 watts, like a regular kettle. To save energy, the mechanism is equipped with an automatic shut-off system that turns off the coffee maker after an inactivity of 20 minutes.

Descaling should be done after 600-1500 capsules, the exact amount depends on the hardness of the water. This process takes place like cleaning an ordinary kettle, pour the product along with water into the tank.

The warranty for Nescafe Dolce Gusto is 2 years.

Functionflow stop

Coffee makers equipped with this function do not have a lever, as an alternative, a wheel with an indicator is offered, which allows you to adjust the amount of water supplied. As a result, we get a semi-automatic device, we do not need to monitor the amount of water poured, but all the same, the capsules will need to be changed manually. Capsule coffee machines equipped with such a function cost about 2-3 thousand rubles more than their mechanical brothers.

Summing up

Nescafe Dolce Gusto was designed for personal use as a home coffee shop, but it is not bad for an office where there is no time to clean the coffee maker, but you always want coffee. You can even use the whole department, the main thing is to monitor the water level in the tank and the number of capsules.

Such a device will be a welcome gift for people who value their time.

A variety of drinks will allow you to enjoy a new coffee every day.

How best to use my device

Can milk be poured into the water tank?

No, milk cannot be poured into the water tank. The system can only be filled with water. The use of any other liquid, in particular milk, may cause a malfunction.

How can you increase the temperature of the drink?

Dolce Gusto technology ensures the optimum temperature for the perfect coffee. If you raise the temperature of the drink, the ground coffee will have a burnt taste.

For those who prefer hotter coffee, there are several options:
Preheat your cup.
Be sure to wait until the indicator light stops flashing while the fuser is heating up before preparing a drink.
Before inserting the capsule, pour some water from the machine into the cup, pour it out, then insert the capsule and prepare your drink.
If there is scale in the machine, remove it (if you have only recently noticed a decrease in the temperature of your drinks).

Normal drink temperature in a cup:
Roasted and ground coffee capsules: above 70 C°
Instant coffee capsules: above 65 C°

Can I use the Cold Water function to prepare hot drinks?

No, your drink will not be hot. Also, this feature will not work as the range of hot drinks is not designed to be dissolved in cold water and consumed cold. This may result in a "Capsule locked" error.

Can the hot water function be used to make cold drinks?

Cold drinks have been specially designed to be prepared using cold water to guarantee the best possible taste.
However, these cold drinks can be prepared using the Hot Water function.

What should be done when the machine is turned on for the first time?

If you have just bought a coffee machine and are going to use it for the first time, please read the user manual. Instruction manuals for all machines can be found on our website.

Here are some recommendations for optimal use that will be helpful to you:
1. Fill the water tank.
2. Install it in the car and fix it until it clicks.
3. Turn on the machine and wait until the indicator turns green.
4. The machine must be cleaned before the first use. To do this, select the maximum amount of water, place an empty container under the outlet of the drink, press "Cold Water" (blue button) and wait until all the water has flowed. Repeat the process in the "Hot water" position (red button). Now your machine is ready to use.
5. Fill the water tank.
6. Insert the capsule into the holder.
7. Select the desired water level (the volume of water is indicated on the capsules).
8. Select "Cold/Hot Water" depending on the desired drink.
9. Wait until the indicator turns green before removing the capsule.
10. Throw away the used capsule.

How long should I wait before preparing the next drink?

You just need to wait for the indicator to turn green, and then prepare the next drink.

Instrument care and cleaning

What is the best way to descale or clean my coffee machine?

Follow the steps in the instruction manual as the methods depend on the model you have purchased.
We recommend using the descaling agent supplied by the manufacturer.
Alternatively, you can use 2 tablespoons of tartaric or citric acid (sold in pharmacies), dissolved in half a liter of slightly warm water. Pour this solution into the water tank.
If you make an average of 4 cups of coffee per day and if you use hard water, we recommend that you descale your machine at least every three months.
If you live in an area with very hard water, descaling should be done more frequently.

Does the water tank need to be cleaned?

Yes, if it has scale deposits.
Wash it with water and/or a cleaner recommended by the device manufacturer.
This will avoid blockages at the water outlet and ensure overall hygiene.

The capsule holder is much more soiled after making Chococino and Nesquik than after making coffee. Why?

Chococino and Nesquik capsules contain chocolate, milk and sugar. They leave a stickier residue than coffee. It is important to clean your machine regularly to avoid bad odors.

How often should the car be cleaned?

Can the parts of the mechanism be washed in the dishwasher?

Only the capsule holder can be washed in the dishwasher. The liquid tray and water tank must be washed by hand.

Technical support

When using the Dolce Gusto machine, the coffee flows very slowly. What can be done?

Clean the machine head using a small needle.
Follow the cleaning instructions in the user manual.

Why does water or coffee appear under the appliance?

Check if the drip tray is full and empty if necessary.
Make sure the drip tray is properly installed.

What kind of water should be poured into the beverage tank?

Tap water (ordinary household drinking water) is excellent for this purpose, provided that it does not contain odors that can change the taste of drinks. Bottled water is also suitable.
Do not use chilled or heated water as this may affect the temperature of the drink.
Always use fresh water and replace it if the system has been idle for more than 2 days.
For cold drinks, use water at room temperature, not from the refrigerator, and put two ice cubes (20 g each) or more in a glass.
It should be noted that water hardness is the main cause of calcium deposits, so it is recommended to clean the machine regularly (every 3 months or more often depending on the degree of water hardness).

What to do in case of a device malfunction?

After reading the instructions for starting the appliance in the user manual, make sure that the electrical outlet is in working order by connecting another device to it. If the device does not work, do not attempt to disassemble or repair it. Take the instrument to an authorized service center.

What should I do if the instrument's power cable is damaged?

Do not use the device. To avoid danger, have the cable replaced at a service center.

Can I leave the used capsule in the car or should it be taken out immediately?

As soon as the drink is ready and the power button stops flashing red (after about 5 seconds), you should pull out the capsule and discard it. It is not recommended to leave the capsule in the holder.

How often should scale be removed?

It depends on the hardness of the water and how often the machine is used.
Over time, scale slows down the flow of water and can reduce the efficiency of the heating element, which in turn will reduce the temperature of the drinks.

Some models (Jovia, Oblo, Drop, Stelia, Movenza, Eclipse, Piccolo, manufactured since the end of 2014) have a descaling reminder.
Each time you press the "Hot water" or "Cold water" button, the machine considers it to be preparing a drink. The descaling warning is activated based on the number of preparations and appears after every 300 drinks. You will see an orange light on the power button. The machine will continue to run, but we recommend descaling.

It is important to descale in the following cases:
If the water flows more slowly when making drinks.
If the water seems colder than usual.
If the power button is constantly flashing orange.

How does descaling affect the machine?

Over time, scale slows down the flow of water, can reduce the efficiency of heating water for making drinks, and clog the needle that pierces the capsule and allows water to pass through.
If you have water of medium hardness, it is recommended to descale every 3-4 months: this will ensure a fast flow of water and the optimal temperature of drinks.

Why is the power button flashing orange?

When the button flashes orange instead of green, it means that the scale needs to be removed. This feature is available on models from 2014.
Each time you press the "Hot water" or "Cold water" button, the machine considers it to be preparing a drink. The descaling warning is activated based on the number of preparations and appears after every 300 drinks. You will see an orange light on the power button. The machine will continue to run, but we recommend descaling.
Turn off the machine, hold down the power button for 5 seconds until it flashes and enters cleaning mode. For descaling, see the appropriate section in the user manual.
It should be noted that if you activate the cleaning mode, but then turn off the machine without descaling, then when you turn it on again, the indicator will turn green again and the cooking counter will be reset. After another 300 drinks, the indicator will turn orange again.

Why is there a removable needle in the machine and how can I remove it?

If you use hard water (high in calcium carbonate) and do not clean it regularly enough, scale will form in the machine, and as a result, the needle cavity may become clogged.
The new models have a removable needle so that it can be removed and cleaned, especially when the flow of water slows down when making drinks. After cleaning the needle, carefully descale the machine.

Fluid does not flow, what can be done?

If the machine does not turn on, or turns on but pressing the Cold/Hot button does not start the pump (and no sound is heard), then the machine needs repair.

If you can hear the pump running but no water is flowing, try the following steps:
1-Remove the capsule from the holder.
2-Check that there is water in the tank and that it is correctly installed.
3-Select the "Cold water" mode, raise and lower the water tank several times, then fix it. The flow of water should be restored. If this does not happen, then the reason is most likely a contaminated needle.
It must be cleaned using the tool supplied with the machine, and the machine itself must be descaled.
If your coffee machine has a removable needle (green), it can be removed and cleaned.
In the event that the water flow is not restored after cleaning the needle, the machine needs to be repaired.

Why does the capsule holder leak on the side?

The reason that the capsule holder is leaking from the side is most likely that the connection between the needle and the tube through which the water enters has lost its tightness.
The car needs repair.

The manual for my automatic coffee machine says that only the "Hot water" button should be used to descale. Then rinse using both buttons: "Hot water" and "Cold water". Shouldn't the cold water pipe be descaled?

In the Melody 3 FS, Circolo FS and Genio 1st generation models, the entire cleaning process is started by pressing the "Hot water" button and there is no need to press "Cold water". Both channels will be cleared. In other automatic machines, both buttons must be pressed.

Why is there sometimes a different level of foam / volume of drink, even if I always choose the same pressure?

The volume of the drink will depend on the size of the cup, the position of the tray and sometimes the milk or coffee powder, which may vary slightly depending on the season.

Water or other liquid is leaking from the machine while a drink is being prepared.

It is important to establish where exactly the machine is leaking (water tank, capsule holder or machine bottom).

To check the tightness of the tank, fill it with water and place it on the table for at least 30 minutes. If water does not flow from it, it means that the problem is most likely in the tightness of the tube, in which case we recommend contacting the customer service center.

I can't get the capsule holder. What can be done?

Before removing the capsule holder, make sure the selection lever is in the middle position and the locking handle is up.
If the locking handle is raised but the holder cannot be removed, the needle plate may not have been installed correctly. Please contact our customer service center.
If the locking handle cannot be lifted at the end of the preparation of the drink, do not use force. The capsule may be under pressure. Wait 20 minutes for the pressure to release, lift the locking handle, remove the capsule holder and discard the capsule. If this does not help, please contact our customer service center.

During the preparation of a drink, coffee/milk is sprayed out of the cup.

Adjust the cup holder so that it is not too close to the outlet of the drink and not too far away from it. Try a different cup size.

The drink is poured at an angle, not straight.

This does not affect the quality of the drink in any way. Before preparing the next drink, clean and dry the capsule holder, especially the opening through which the drink is poured.

When the drink is ready and the machine is stopped, the liquid continues to drip into the cup.

This is normal: if you do not remove the capsule from the machine, the liquid from it will continue to drip into the cup or drip tray. When using coffee capsules, the drink may drip longer than when using beverage capsules with cream. In order for the liquid to stop dripping, you need to remove and discard the capsule immediately after the indicator stops flashing.

After removing the capsule and the capsule holder, the rest of the water/drink drips from the top of the injector.

It is possible that you removed the holder too early or the volume of the drink was less than recommended, which caused the backflow of water. Be sure to wait until the indicator stops flashing before opening the machine.

When I remove the holder from the coffee machine, the rest of the drink drips from there.

When removing the capsule from the machine, nothing should drip from it. To minimize the risk of dripping on the kitchen surface, the machine (except for the Piccolo model) comes with a special capsule collection box, which should be kept near the machine.

Even after the capsule is ejected into the collector, water/drink continues to drip from it.

When a drink of the desired strength and volume has been prepared, the remaining water (and drink) is retained in the capsule so as not to affect the taste of the drink. This residual liquid may flow into the collection. The capsule collector supplied with the machine (except for the Piccolo model) makes it easy to separate liquid from solid waste (see instruction manual). The capsule collector should be cleaned regularly.

The drink is dispensed too quickly or too slowly.

Some products (e.g. coffee capsules) are designed so that water flows through them more slowly than other products (e.g. soft drink capsules with cream) in order to achieve optimal beverage quality. If the drink is poured more slowly than usual, clean the needle and descale following the instructions in the user manual.

What do the different indicator colors mean?

When you turn on the machine and the water begins to heat up, the power button flashes red for approximately 30 seconds.
When the machine is ready for use, the power button lights up green.
When the drink is ready, the power button flashes red for about 5 seconds. Do not remove the capsule at this time!
Eco Mode: If the machine is not used for 5 minutes, it will turn off automatically.
If the power button flashes red/green, it means that there is not enough water in the tank. Check that the capsule is installed correctly and that there is enough water in the reservoir before preparing a new drink.
If the power button is permanently lit orange/yellow, it means that the scale needs to be descaled.

More information about the indicators can be found in the instruction manual.

Can vinegar be used to remove scale?

NO. White vinegar can cause malfunction and lead to leakage.
To prolong the life of your machine, it is recommended to use the descaling kit sold in our online store or other liquid products that are suitable for coffee machines.

Can the coffee machine be used in countries with different voltages?

No, the safe use of the machine can only be guaranteed in countries with the same voltage. If the voltage in your country is higher than the one where the machine was purchased, the machine will not work or the fuses will blow when the machine is turned on. If the voltage in your country is lower, then the machine may not work.

The manual for my automatic coffee machine says that only the "Hot water" button should be used to descale. Then rinse using both buttons: "Hot water" and "Cold water". Shouldn't the cold water pipe be descaled?

It is best to descale both channels (Hot/Cold) and this procedure is provided for automatic coffee machines.
However, scale does not practically form in the cold channel, and it is very important that the bulk of the decalcifier pass through the hot channel. To ensure effective descaling in the hot channel (which is the most commonly used), we recommend running all the solution through the hot channel.
To thoroughly flush the system and remove residual solution in the connector connecting the pipes for hot and cold water, it is recommended to flush the cold channel as well.

Miscellaneous

How is real espresso coffee different?

The hallmark of real espresso is the crema created under pressure in the coffee machine during the coffee preparation process. Pressure is measured in bars (from 1.5 to 19). The higher the pressure, the thicker and higher the foam.

How is espresso different from drip coffee?

Espresso has a more pronounced flavor than "regular" coffee.
Espresso has a rich aroma and thick foam.
To prepare such coffee, water heated to 90-92°C is passed under a pressure of 15 bar (which is only possible in automatic coffee machines) through a precisely measured amount of coffee (7 g per cup) of fine grinding.

What are the terms of the warranty for my device?

For more information, see " Guarantee " of this website.

How can this appliance be disposed of at the end of its useful life?

Your appliance contains valuable materials that can be recycled. Take it to the city waste collection point.

I just unpacked my new car and it looks like one of the parts is missing. What to do?

If you think any parts are missing, please call Customer Service and we will help you find a suitable solution.

I have heard that the machine is equipped with an aluminum fuser with a stainless steel coating. Does this mean that hot water will only come into contact with stainless steel and not aluminum? I am afraid that aluminum that gets into the water is harmful to health.

The aluminum in the thermoblock does not come into contact with water, it is only used for heat exchange. The water pipes are made of stainless steel.

Can the machine be used as a water heater?

No, the machine should not be used as a water heater. Without the capsule, the pressure will be stronger, but the heat transfer will be insufficient and the water temperature will most likely not meet your expectations.

Are there security measures to keep in mind? I have small children and I am concerned about their safety.

What is the maximum number of drinks per day that can be prepared in the machine?

There is no limit on the number of drinks per day for the coffee machine, but you should not make too many drinks in a row, as this may lead to overheating of some elements and an error.
You can brew up to 5-6 cups of coffee in a row, but then you should wait 1-2 minutes before continuing to brew.

How to use the car safely?

To ensure maximum safety when using the machine, please read the "Recommendations for safe use" section in the operator's manual.
To ensure safety when using the machine:
Never draw hot water into the water tank!
Never open the locking handle while preparing a drink!
At the end of cooking, the power button flashes red for about 5 seconds. Do not open the locking handle at this time!
Never move the selector lever with the locking handle open!
Do not touch the used capsule after preparing the drink! Contact with hot surfaces can cause burns!

Can the red NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto® cord be replaced with a different colored cord?

Every NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto® coffee machine comes with a red safety cord that cannot be replaced.
It ensures user safety and is an important part of the Modern Art Café: NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto® brand.

What is the difference between a manual and automatic coffee machine?

There are 2 different types of machines:
In a manual machine, you can control the amount of water for making a drink. The car does not stop by itself; it stops when you move the lever back to the intermediate position.
In an automatic machine, the volume of water for a drink is determined in advance. This means that the machine will stop automatically.

How does the system work?

The NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto coffee machine heats water, which then passes under high pressure - a maximum of 15 bar - through a capsule with a high-quality fried and ground or instant product (milk, chocolate, etc.) depending on the type of capsule.
The capsules use mainly premium Arabica coffee varieties.
The capsules are made to ensure an even distribution of water and pressure in the coffee and guarantee a full-bodied taste. The system provides the same pressure as in professional coffee machines.
The pressure in the percolator is 1 bar (normal atmospheric pressure), in some other machines the pressure does not exceed 2 bar, and in the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto system the pressure is 15 bar.

Does the machine have an expiration date?

No, it can be used for as long as you like, provided that it works properly.

What is the plastic tube inside the mechanism made of - polyethylene or polypropylene?

Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machines are designed and manufactured to ensure the safety of our customers and ensure that our drinks taste great. Nowadays, in order to enjoy the exquisite aroma of freshly brewed coffee, you no longer need to go to a specialized coffee shop. It is enough to purchase one of the many coffee machines supplied to the market by global manufacturers. The list of companies offering their coffee machines is quite large - dolce gusto, delonghi, saeco, bosch, krups, nespresso and many others.

Modern coffee machines

Modern flavored beverage machines have a significant degree of automation, so they are very easy to use. The most modern and expensive modifications can themselves create all the required parameters for a particular type of coffee - heat water to a certain temperature, grind grains, brew a drink. There are several types of such miracle machines - capsule (pod) or carob. And the more modern the coffee machine, the more functions it is equipped with, the more difficult it is to use. But the service life of this expensive unit often depends on the correct use. We will try to figure out how to properly use one or another type of device from various manufacturers.

Carob coffee machines

These machines are also called espresso coffee makers or holder coffee makers. They have earned wide popularity precisely because of their ease of use, reliability of design at a very affordable price. The most popular models in this segment are Delonghi, Bosch, Saeco carob coffee makers. These machines are typically used for making espresso quickly, so they have a relatively small set of features. As a rule, in these devices it is possible to regulate the working steam pressure, the amount and temperature of water in the heater.

To prepare a drink in a holder installation, you will need to roast and grind coffee yourself in a coffee grinder. Then it is poured into the horn and rammed there with a special pestle. The whole principle of operation of the holder machine is approximately the same for all models. For example, you can give instructions on how to use the delonghi coffee machine:

  1. Pour water into the heating tank.
  2. We install a filter strainer in the holder.
  3. We pour the ground grains into the horn and lightly ram them.
  4. We insert the horn into the head of the holder.
  5. We turn on the coffee maker.

After the water in the machine boils, the pressurized steam passes through the rammed coffee horn and, condensing, enters the mug. After use, the rest of the coffee is thrown away, the horn is thoroughly washed, and the coffee machine is ready for the next portion of the drink. In general terms, the whole principle of operation is simple and similar to the work of ancient samovars that “worked” on coals and were used at the same time to steam tea. Most of these devices work according to the "mechanical" principle - they turn on and off manually at the right time for a person. But there are also automatic holder mechanisms, in which the cooking time is set using a timer.

cappuccinatore

Almost all models are equipped with a so-called cappuccino maker - a special device for obtaining milk foam, which is necessary, for example, for making cappuccino or macchiato. The cappuccinatore is a tube through which steam is supplied and a special nozzle for whipping foam. When using the cappuccinatore, you need to constantly turn the mug so that the milk foam is high enough. It is also necessary to remember some nuances when tamping ground coffee into a cone. If it is packed too tightly, then the steam passing under pressure through the horn will linger for too long. As a result, the coffee will turn out very strong and bitter.

If the coffee is not compacted enough, then the steam will pass through it very quickly, not having time to dissolve enough and without absorbing the aroma. In this embodiment, the drink will turn out to be weak and devoid of the necessary aroma. According to user reviews, a similar problem is typical for Philips holder installations. As you can see, use

Basic horn models

In the world, Saeco coffee machines (Italy) have earned wide popularity. Their feature is the presence of a special valve in the horn to create a stable steam pressure. It does not require special compaction of ground coffee. All Saeco models are equipped with a device for creating a pressure of 15 atmospheres and a cappuccinatore. In our country, the devices of the Russian company Vitek are popular. They have a very reasonable price, a metal horn (it does not give an extraneous aftertaste, unlike a plastic one). Model VT-1514 also has a cup warmer function, water level and temperature indicator, automatic cappuccino preparation. The German company Bosch also occupies an important position in the market of carob coffee machines. Distinctive features of its models are reliability and equipment with many additional functions.

Capsule (pod) coffee machines

In recent years, devices of this type have taken more and more space on the coffee machine market. Meanwhile, the line between these two types is very blurred - there are carob machines equipped with removable nozzles for using capsules. At the same time, there are modifications of pod machines that can use ground coffee. Unlike carob devices, capsule devices are easier to use. Their main feature is the use of pods (capsules) - separately packaged portions of ground coffee, already rammed to the desired consistency. All that is required of the user is to fill in water, insert the pod into the horn and turn on the unit.

Nothing more depends on the person and is not required - the machine itself will prepare coffee. A person will no longer be able to intervene in the course of the whole process, and, unlike the carob system, it will not work to adjust the temperature or strength of the drink. But at the same time, there is no need to worry about whether the coffee is well packed. As you can see, using a capsule coffee machine is much easier than using a carob one. The used pod is also very easy to remove and the machine is ready to go again.

Capsule models

The first company to use the pod principle for its devices is the Swiss company Nespresso. A feature of the machines of this company is a large selection of pods - 17 types of drink. Among the minuses is their high cost. However, you can purchase empty capsules for these machines and fill them with the variety you like. Another well-known manufacturer of such equipment is the Nescafe company, which produces cars under the Dolce gusto brand. Dolce machines are basically one to one similar to Nespresso machines with the only difference that the cost of pods for them is much lower, but there is also less choice of beverage varieties.

The same company produces devices under the brand name krups. The highest level of automation is the joint brainchild of the German bosch and the American company KraftFoods - Tassimo. The capsules for these machines contain more coffee than capsules from other manufacturers - 9 g. How to use the coffee machine is shown in detail in the video below.
