There is also another way. In addition to potassium permanganate, alkali is also used - caustic sodium or caustic potassium.

Alkali is added to the moonshine distilled from the mash at the rate of 2-3 g for each liter of drink. The mixture is stirred and allowed to stand for twenty to thirty minutes. Then add an aqueous solution of potassium permanganate. The proportions and preparation method are described just above. Thirty minutes later, alkali is again added to the moonshine, mixed and allowed to settle. After ten to twelve hours, the liquid is drained from above, and the precipitate is removed. The semi-finished product is ready for the second stage cleaning.

The second stage is technologically more complex. It is carried out in a distillation apparatus equipped with thermometers - this allows you to monitor how the process temperature changes.

Moonshine with a high concentration of alcohol is reluctant to part with impurities, so it must be diluted with water to the strength of ordinary vodka.

The drink poured into the distiller is quickly heated to a temperature of 60 ° C. Then the heating rate is reduced, gradually increasing to a temperature of 82–84 °. At the beginning of the haul, the first fraction is allocated - the so-called pervach. The approximate volume of the initial mass of raw materials is from 3 to 10%. It is strong, but it tastes disgusting, as it contains volatile impurities. It is better to use it not for food, but for technical purposes. When the pervac leaves, the heating temperature and heating rate increase. The allocation of the second fraction of the moonshine begins - this is approximately 40–45% of the initial volume of moonshine. The process must be monitored with a thermometer and alcohol meter. The normal concentration of alcohol in the second fraction is 55–60 °. If it dropped, and the temperature of the liquid increased to 95–97 °, this means that the second fraction has moved away, the third has gone ...

However, if the original product is of poor quality, then long before reaching critical temperatures at which fusel oils evaporate, the strength of moonshine may not exceed 30 °. In this case, the second fraction should be distilled again to obtain a more concentrated beverage.

If a normal second fraction comes out, it can be used to make high-quality alcoholic beverages based on moonshine.

The third fraction contains little ethyl alcohol, but there are a lot of fusel oils. There is also wine alcohol. Do not save at the expense of health. Either distill the third fraction again, or pour it down the toilet for simplicity. Together with the remains of moonshine from the still.

How to clean vodka with activated charcoal tablets

The third stage of purification of moonshine is made with activated carbon.

We put wooden blocks at the bottom of the pan, on which we place bottles with the infused drink. Fill with water and boil over low heat. The tincture obtained in this way does not differ in quality from others obtained by long preparation. For greater concentration, decoctions are distilled. These tinctures have a high content of essential oils and a degree of saturation with aromatic substances. They do not change the taste of the drink, but get rid of a specific unpleasant odor, giving the desired aroma.

To obtain a concentrated solution, not only decoctions are used for distillation, but also infusions. They are prepared as follows: first, choose the desired spice, such as orange peel. For 400 g of raw materials, you will need 3 liters of water. The dry crust is crushed, and the fresh one can be rubbed. The resulting mass is poured with boiling water, after which it is tightly corked and placed in a warm place. From above, the container can be covered with something warm. Insist one day, then add another 3 liters of water and distilled until the smell of spices persists. Then add fresh spices and distill again. To obtain a more concentrated solution, the operation should be repeated 3-5 times.

How to refine vodka with cranberries

Composition:

  • 500 g cranberries
  • 700 ml of cold boiled water
  • 500 ml of alcohol
