Tbilisi restaurants with live music and dancing. Restaurants and bars in Tbilisi

Georgia is a country with a long history, including with regard to national cuisine. Of course, there are chain McDonald's, Starback's, and other fast food establishments in Tbilisi (their number increased significantly during Saakashvili's presidency), but that's not what you're coming here for, right? 😉 This post is about those places in the Georgian capital, the names of which will not say much to people who have not been to Georgia, but they can rightfully be called national restaurants, where you should definitely go when you are in Tbilisi.

Well, do not forget that this is my personal selection, and, as you know, everyone has a different taste. Exactly like experience. For example, in the notorious Velyaminov restaurant (on Shalva Dadiani Street), which many of my friends praised me so much and about which many bloggers enthusiastically write, they tried to cheat us quite brazenly - the prices on the menu differed from those that were written by hand in the invoice. They probably thought that foreigners could be warmed up (I was with Italians and we spoke in English). I really don’t like such things, because this “legendary” restaurant did not make it to my list.

My collection of invoices from various establishments

In Velyaminov. We sit smiling - the moment before the bill was brought 🙂

The list will be constantly updated/adjusted as new experience and new establishments appear 🙂 All addresses, appearances and passwords can be found on the map at the very end of the article.

What is important to know about cafes and restaurants in Tbilisi

Almost all cafes and restaurants allow smoking;
- tips are already included in the bill almost everywhere (i.e. we add tips to the prices in the menu). Typically it is 10%. In popular with tourists Samikitno on Meydan Square - 15%;
- bills are brought exclusively in Georgian. Are you afraid to be counted? Then it’s better to take a picture of the price of what was ordered on your phone so that there are no questions later;
- accepted everywhere.

Old Lagidze Waters on Rustaveli

I learned about the existence of this place purely by chance from the indigenous people of Tbilisi. “Water of Lagidze”, I’m not afraid of this word, is a real Georgian brand, which at one time made both American presidents and Soviet general secretaries admire. It is best to touch the history of the drink here - on Rustaveli (there is another Lagidze Water cafe, about it later). Legendary drinks (or rather syrups for them) were invented by Mitrofan Lagidze in 1887 and since then have been an integral part of Georgian history. They were so good that even at the historic Yalta Conference in 1945 there were bottles of Lagidze Water on the tables, and Franklin Roosevelt, who tasted this wonderful natural drink, took with him to America as many as two thousand bottles. In turn, Harry Truman was interested in whether it was possible to arrange supplies of lemonade directly to the United States. Ironically, many years later, the great-grandson of Mitrofan Lagidze, Vakhtang, became the chief technologist and vice president at one of the lemonade factories in Tbilisi, where Coca-Cola production was established ...

I advise you to order creamy - it is the most delicious! Adjarian or Imeretian khachapuri is also well cooked here. The visitors are mostly locals, the interior is Soviet.

Prices are very affordable: a large Imeretian khachapuri 6.5 GEL, a small Adjarian khachapuri - 6.9 GEL, a glass of Lagidze water (300 ml) - 1 GEL. Opening hours from 10:00 to 22:00. Bank cards are also accepted for payment. Smoking in the cafe is prohibited, which is a big plus. It seems like there is Wi-Fi, but I could not connect.

The order is made at the checkout 🙂

Having made an order, you can sit down at any free table and wait for the food to be brought to you, drinking creamy lemonade. Number on the table for the waiter.

Creamy and chocolate lemonades in Lagidze Waters

Georgians like to drink Lagidze by mixing both lemonades in one glass. If you're here, take a look. You will see that many (if not all) locals do just that.

New "Lagidze Water" at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity

It is located on the territory of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and therefore it is best to come here after visiting the cathedral. The food here is delicious. The legendary drink for my taste is somewhat different from what is poured in Lagidze on Rustaveli. As for me, it tastes better here. It is best to order creamy. Here you can also order lemonade to go - poured into a plastic liter bottle. It's pretty cool to walk around and drink lemonade while hiking. Children should especially like it. It is in the new Lagidze that you should definitely try Adjarian khachapuri. Here he is one of the best that I have tried in Tbilisi.

Prices are higher than in Lagidze on Rustaveli, but I would not call them "biting" either. Small Imeretian khachapuri 5 GEL, small Adjarian khachapuri - 8.5 GEL (pictured), a glass of Lagidze water (250 ml) - 1.7 GEL, a liter bottle - 4.3 GEL. Opening hours from 10:00 to 22:00. Bank cards are also accepted for payment. Smoking in the cafe is prohibited, which is my personal plus. There is normal Wi-Fi. Delivery costs 5 GEL, call tel. 2-47-77-57.

Home bakery on the street. Abo Tbileli

Well? Have you missed McDonald's or Starbuck's yet? Not? Then we will continue our immersion in Georgian authenticity. Now I want to give you a very unusual point. Yes, yes, exactly the point ... Only some city crazy person would decide to call this place catering 🙂 And everything is very simple. If you suddenly want to taste real Georgian freshly baked street bread "", then you will definitely come here. In this basement from the time of the Georgian founding fathers, there is a bakery where you can buy the freshest Georgian bread and feel like a real indigenous Tbilisi! Believe me, it is in such semi-basement private bakeries that the inhabitants of the surrounding houses in old Tbilisi buy bread.

Prices: - 50 and 80 tetri (0.5 and 0.8 lari respectively). You can only pay in cash.

Old Generation Cafe

This is an authentic place soaked in the love of its creators, which you will definitely meet when going down the Wine Rise from the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity to Metekhi. Do not go here - just a crime! A small room with stone walls hung with various ancient Georgian attributes of being, which almost made it to the time of Vakhtang Gorgasali. The owner of the Old generation managed to turn her offspring from an inconspicuous family cafe to a real place of worship. Although, until now you can only meet very experienced and sophisticated travelers there. Coffee is brewed in some way secret recipe and looks like Irish coffee. I was here with my Iranian friends and we were all delighted 🙂

To be honest, I don’t remember the price, because the Iranians treated me, flatly refused to take money from me 🙂 In my opinion, coffee cost something around 6 lari. Paid exactly in cash.

In general, I wrote about it in detail in a separate article - you can read and estimate how much you need to take with you now. Plus, I recently finished an interesting article, where I compared Moscow. Not everything is so simple, some goods in Georgia are even more expensive.

Restaurant Samikitno

The first word that a traveler should remember when he is in Georgia is Samikitno (aka Machakhela). In general, this is a chain of several restaurants in Tbilisi, but there is also one in Batumi. I have been to several and I can say that I didn’t feel much difference in the quality of the prepared dishes (except that I strongly advise against going there). However, the flagship is the one on Meydan Square. If the weather is good, go up to the second floor and go out to the balcony, here are the coolest places. The second most popular restaurant can be found on Freedom Square. It's great to sit at a table that is set right on the street and watch the passers-by. The staff in both establishments mostly speaks Russian.

There are a lot of interesting and tasty things on the menu, but I always ordered platter from different ones here. You can arrange a real tasting by ordering one khinkali different kind. Khinkali should be at least five. My favorites are khinkali with mushrooms, cheese, beef and Kakhetian style (with pork). If you look here in the morning and have breakfast Imeruli khachapuri with cold coffee, then hunger will remind you again only in the evening.

UPD: To be honest, the quality of food in Samikinto has dipped noticeably lately. There are flows of tourists. Now I rarely go there.

Prices - you won't find cheaper! average price for one khinkali - 0.7-0.8 GEL, Khachapuri "Imeruli" - 3.5 GEL for a small portion (suitable for one or two) and 7 GEL for a large one (for a company of 4 people). A glass of wine - 1 GEL, except for Saperavi - 2 GEL. My favorite cold coffee here it costs 4 lari, and a double espresso - 6. Payment is possible by card. A tip of 15% will be added to the bill in addition to the order amount. By the way, in Samikitno on Pl. The size of the tip included in the bill is noticeably smaller - 10%.

Cafe Linville

Cafe Linville is not like a restaurant in the usual sense. It is located in an apartment building with an inconspicuous entrance and consists of several separate rooms where you can sit together on a sofa or a whole company at a round table. It is better to come here in the evenings, because in the evening they sometimes play the old piano or arrange various kinds of exhibitions. The place is fashionable and atmospheric, because the contingent here is mostly youth. Hiding from tobacco smoke on a balcony entwined with vines, in good weather it can be nice to watch the busy Kote Abkhazi street.

By the way, on the next street was mine, where I lived in Tbilisi when I came here for the first time.

Restaurant Culinarium

Culinarium is not about "grab a quick bite and move on". This is an institution where you need to come for new culinary experiences and for the sake of the institution itself. During the day on weekdays, a culinary talk show with the participation of the owner of the restaurant Tekuna Gachechiladze is filmed here, and in the evenings, starting from Thursday and up to Sunday, they receive guests. Visitors to Culinarium are often employees of Western diplomatic missions and consulates, but the restaurant staff also speaks excellent Russian. Registration is possible on their page at

In Tbilisi incredible amount places to grab a bite to eat, meet up with friends or have a hearty dinner. Each visitor is faced with a difficult choice every time where it is better to have breakfast / lunch. The choice is eye-opening! No, really, there are few places in the world on one street where you can meet so many different options: restaurants, home cafes, khinkal, street eateries, etc. Everyone can find a place for themselves to their taste, regardless of price category institutions and requirements. , where you can have a bite to eat while exploring the city, we have already told. Of course, there are a lot of worthy places in the city, but today we will present to your attention the 3 best, in our opinion. We are talking about good quality restaurants in Tbilisi, where you can have lunch / dinner, meet friends, just have fun. It is these restaurants that our guides advise on as must-sees.

History reference

Only experienced gourmets know that the composition of Georgian dishes differs in the two parts of the country. This fact is due to the fact that for a long time Georgia was divided into several kingdoms: some of them were located in the east, and others in the west. Due to the territorial difference, the filling of the feasts was different. In the eastern part of the country, preference was given to meat dishes, including shish kebab, kharcho soup, tobacco chicken, khinkali and many others. The Western Georgian menu is dominated by plant food, here they prepare lobio, badrijani, mchadi and various types of vegetables under various treatments.

The history of modern Georgian restaurants originates in dukhans of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Local residents liked to gather in these small taverns and taverns to discuss exciting issues or just spend time in a pleasant company.

Modern Tbilisi, and not only, restaurateurs often use this style to create a cozy atmosphere in their premises. Small establishments with long tables for a friendly company have won a place of honor in many other countries.

Famous restaurants in Tbilisi

The leading positions in the ranking of restaurants in Tbilisi are occupied by establishments built near the Old City. The historical center is a connecting point for many tourist excursions, and therefore, the pricing policy of catering establishments is aimed at wealthy guests of the capital.

The reward for patient tourists will be a stunning view of the city.

The institution has its own history. Initially, it was an art gallery where contemporary Georgian authors were exhibited. Gradually, the restaurant acquired its present significance.

Expositions of paintings still occupy their place on the walls of the "Steps", only gourmets and connoisseurs of hookah still gather at the tables.

The restaurant's cuisine offers both Georgian and traditional European dishes. Fans of local food will appreciate pan-fried dishes (shkmeruli, ojakhuri) and ketsi. A special menu item for which many overcome the vertical path more than once, gupta lobio - bean balls seasoned with walnut sauce and Georgian spices.

BARBARESTAN (Barbarestan)

One of the most expensive restaurants Tbilisi, due to its history. Owners and chefs carefully store original recipes national cuisine from Princess Barbara Jorjadze. This woman possessed not only culinary talents, but also wrote poetry and articles for magazines. Professionals have managed to adapt historical dishes to modern realities without compromising their taste.

The wine list offers drinks from trendy Georgian winemakers.

Tbilisi "fast food"

No, this is not an offer to try a hamburger with fries. The fact is that Georgia has its own concept of food hastily. Such dishes include khachapuri, khinkali, pasties, kebabs.

In the tourist capital, there are many cafes and eateries that offer very delicious food at moderate prices.

Network establishments in Tbilisi

Restaurant chains in the capital are distinguished by a natural combination of Eastern and Western cultures. Positioning themselves as multiple establishments, they refuse originality. This is not a sign of their facelessness at all. Most of the buildings have a national flavor and distinctive features from each other and similar cafes. The interior is decorated in oriental style, specialties remain popular options.

This network includes 4 establishments located in different parts of the city.

The menu offers several types of khinkali, the price of which depends on the composition of the filling. Meat for barbecue is delivered by local suppliers. Always available fresh unique bread and lemonade.

A serving of 5-6 khinkali will cost about 70 rubles.

These are two networks, united by one owner. Here you can join the national Adjarian cuisine. Therefore, if there is no opportunity to visit Batumi, tourists go there for the most delicious khachapuri.

Since they are located in the central part of the capital, the prices are somewhat high. The average bill is set at 300-400 rubles.

Cafe STRADA

Visitors casually dropping into one of these two establishments in search of local flavor may hastily retreat from the kingdom, reminiscent of European cuisine. The proposed dishes from the American and Asian menus can confuse gourmets. Jumping to conclusions could deprive them of the local hummus with vegetable sticks and pita, as well as a mixture of red cabbage, dates and feta.

Distinctive items in the extensive list of food are their own pastries and delicious desserts.

On average, a check is 1200 Russian rubles.

Drinking establishments in Tbilisi

You can talk and try national cuisine, talk about its diversity, but none Georgian feast does not do without plentiful wine libations.

The number of wine bars, tasting establishments, shops and cellars is the envy of any drinking capital. Getting around even more than half of these rooms is simply unrealistic. And if we talk about the assortment, then it differs little in medium-sized establishments. Some bars aim to attract tourists, putting effort and imagination into creating a unique reputation.

LAGIDZE WATER (Lagidze Waters)

To visit Tbilisi and ignore this cafe means to miss unique opportunity taste the wonderful lemonade, which is widely known. The cafe offers not only drinks, but excellent khachapuri and lobiani are prepared here.

Except classic flavors, such as Tarragon, Citro or Pear, they offer products of the Tikhvin plant with aromas of chocolate, coffee, cream, mint, orange, feijoa and even rose.

Dishes using liquid nitrogen became a feature of the cuisine of this restaurant.

Since the institution specializes in wines and fusion menus, it is difficult to single out any special Georgian dishes.

Accommodation allows you to combine an excursion program with a meal.

VINO

Bar feature - natural wines and cheeses. For tasting by the glass, it is quite an expensive pleasure; it is better to choose a whole bottle in advance.

It is unlikely that you will be able to have a hearty dinner here; in extreme cases, you can order a salad and hot.

Cozy and modern atmosphere will make the evening unforgettable.

It is better to visit this bar at the beginning of your acquaintance with the city, so that later you will feel confident when choosing wine drinks in other institutions.

GEORGIAN TAPAS

The bar-restaurant is located in the Old Town. The restaurant offers traditional Georgian cuisine and European dishes. It differs from many other bars with a wide range of wines for every taste.

Modern tourists are very demanding people. visiting new country, they strive not only to learn as much as possible about its traditions and customs, not only to see the most famous sights, but also to try authentic dishes and drinks. Many in advance study tons of information about the most famous restaurants in the city, choose establishments where locals go to compare and form an individual opinion.

The proposed establishments are only options that you can follow or not. The choice always remains with the person. Try new things and look for your establishments, where you want to return more than once!

I found some of these places on my own, others were the advice of local friends, and I came across others by chance while walking along Tbilisi. I am happy to share information that will not be superfluous.

Ezo is Georgian for "courtyard", the place is hard to find if you don't know. Located at: st. GerontiKikodze, house 16 (in the yard). Car rental in Georgia

Now in Georgia you can rent a car in all major cities and airports. We rented a car upon arrival in Kutaisi on that website. Prices for car rental in Georgia are slightly higher than in Europe, 50-70 dollars per day, but significantly lower than 5 years ago - then they were around 100 dollars. In most cases, an ordinary passenger car is enough, where an SUV is needed, you can always use the services of local residents - it's inexpensive, from 10 to 50 dollars, depending on time and distance. You can read more about car rental in Georgia.

Cafes and restaurants in Tbilisi are an integral part of the atmosphere of the cozy Georgian capital. In the new post - a list of places where to eat tasty and inexpensive in Tbilisi. Or expensive, but still delicious :)

When you look into the courtyards of the old city, climb the Narikala fortress and take a walk around the others, you will definitely get hungry, then our small guide to delicious places cities.

Georgian cuisine is one of the reasons why you should come to Georgia. We gained a few kilos on our return, but the main national dishes I wrote in .

Basically, Georgian food is quite satisfying, sometimes spicy, and the most famous dishes these are khinkali, khachapuri, kharcho, lobio, tkemali sauce…

Here's what you need to know:

  • In all Georgian cafes and restaurants, we were billed and added a mandatory 10% service fee to it. Tbilisi cafes are no exception.
  • The quality and taste of food does not depend on the "coolness" of the restaurant and its appearance.
  • Prices in cafes in Tbilisi are not much different from other cities in Georgia, at least tourist ones. Many establishments with prices above average, but to find a budget option no problem.

1. Dukhan "Racha"

Entrance to the dukhan "Racha"

A cult place and at the same time quite authentic. Located in a basement with brick walls, a showcase and stern aunts, as if transported by a time machine from Soviet Union. This is a traditional place - this was the look of many Tbilisi cafes. Quite tasty, but without frills, but located in the very center. The prices are quite low.

Address: intersection of Lermontov and Dadiani streets

The waters of Lagidze are, one might say, a feature of Tbilisi, a place with amazing lemonades of all tastes and delicious khachapuri. Especially cool chocolate lemonade ;-)

Address: on the territory of the temple of Tsminda Sameba

3. Chain of restaurants "Machakhela"

This is a popular chain of restaurants in Tbilisi (about 8-9 in the city) with air conditioning and wi-fi. Here the main thing is adjarian cuisine, so you must try Adjarian khachapuri here if you are not going to Batumi (there is the most delicious in our opinion). One of the central restaurants of this chain is located just on the Maidan opposite the Metekhi bridge and the rock. Prices are above average.

4. "Samikitno"

Restaurants of the same owners as Machakhela. Large selection and average prices, a big plus that is located in the center. Just after seeing the magnificent ones, you can drop by.

Address: st. Tumaniani, 23

5. Khinkalnaya "At Velyaminov"

In the khinkal room at Velyaminov

One of the oldest khinkali in Tbilisi, here you can try khinkali, take 5-6 things to start with. By the way, you need to eat them correctly like this: bite off a piece of dough from the edge, drink the broth, and only then eat up. Leave the top piece of dough on the plate ;-) The interior is somewhat reminiscent of the Racha dukhan.

Address: st. Dadiani, 8

6. "Shemoikhede Genatsvale"

The name translates as "Come in, dear" - also a small chain of restaurants in the capital of Georgia. And here it is also recommended to try khinkali.

7. "Zahar Zaharich"

A large restaurant not far from the Dry Bridge (there is also an antique market there). There are several types of khinkali, shish kebab, kharcho, khachapuri and other dishes to choose from. Moderate prices.

Address: Wright Bank, 3
