Jar glass can withstand high temperatures well if it is heated gradually. You probably know this very well if you have ever prepared something for the winter using the sterilization method. Therefore, rest assured: you will not have to remove a chicken from the oven that was unplannedly seasoned with small shards of glass. Feel free to cook this delicious dish! Since I tried it, we have consistently had juicy and tender baked chicken in a jar in the oven on our table a couple of times a month. I tried to present the recipe with photos, the step-by-step cooking process and some of the nuances of cooking in as much detail as possible. Here are 2 of my ways to feed my family deliciously. Tender pieces of chicken with juicy vegetables, baked in their own juice in a two-liter jar

Ingredients:

How to bake chicken fillet in a regular jar (simple step-by-step recipe with photos):

You can cook not only fillets in this way. You can cut the whole chicken into small pieces that will fit into the neck of the jar. Chicken with bones will be more juicy, the broth will be richer, but the dish will be less convenient to eat. Cut the chicken into pieces. Place in a deep container. Add the pressed garlic. Add pepper and a mixture of Provençal herbs. If you like moderately spicy food, add a little mustard. Add some salt. Stir. If you have time, let the bird marinate for half an hour at room temperature.

Prepare the vegetables. Wash everything. Remove the stems from the pepper pods and remove the core with seeds. Cut the pulp into strips or cubes.

Coarsely grate or chop the carrots into strips.

Chop the onion into half rings.

Cut the tomatoes into cubes or slices. If you wish, you can blanch the tomatoes and remove the skin. Mix all the vegetables. Season with salt and pepper.

Place half of the vegetables in the bottom of a clean and dry two- or three-liter jar. Then - chicken. Cover with remaining vegetable slices. No need to add water or broth. Vegetables and chicken will release juice, in which they will simmer.

Cover the mouth of the jar with aluminum foil. Make several punctures in it with a toothpick to release hot steam. Place in a COLD oven on the middle rack. Preheat the oven to 170-180 degrees. Bake for 90-110 minutes. Then turn off the oven. Remove the jar of chicken after half an hour, when the glass has cooled slightly.

Juicy, completely lean chicken meat and a dietary vegetable side dish are ready for it. Try it!

Bake delicious chicken with potatoes in a jar

Required Products:

Step-by-step cooking method (recipe with step-by-step photos):

This time I decided to use whole drumsticks without removing them from the bone. The skin can be removed from the meat and placed on top. It will release a little fat that will saturate the meat. It will turn out even juicier. Wash the chicken. Add your favorite seasonings and salt to it. I had dry, mild adjika. It turned out to be a very successful combination. A mixture of curry, turmeric, paprika, marjoram, thyme, basil, and rosemary also goes well with chicken. Take your favorite spices in arbitrary proportions - you can’t go wrong. Stir to distribute the seasoning evenly throughout the chicken. Leave for 30-40 minutes at room temperature (if the kitchen is not hot). Or while preparing other components of the dish.

Cut the potatoes into medium-sized cubes or cubes.

Carrots - into strips or chop using a coarse grater.

Cut the peeled and washed onion in half. Cut each half into half rings.

It is important that the jar in which the chicken and potatoes will be cooked is clean and completely dry. Layer chicken and potatoes with carrots and onions. Don't forget to season and salt the vegetables separately so that it doesn't turn out too bland.

Take a small sheet of heatproof foil. Fold it 2-4 times. Close the neck of the jar. As in the first recipe, place the chicken in a preheated oven for baking. Then heat it to medium temperature (about 180 degrees). Cook the dish for at least 1.5 hours. Let it cool slightly so that the container does not crack.

Carefully remove the foil. Absolutely soft, satisfying potatoes with aromatic chicken are ready. The meat easily falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. I recommend!

It seems that a glass jar is such a fragile container that it is basically impossible to cook food in it. However, if handled correctly, it can produce juicy chicken. The recipe for oven-baked chicken in a jar is very simple and requires some imagination in terms of ingredients and absolute precision in working with the utensils themselves.

5 basic rules

Before recipes are described, you need to remember the basic cooking rules. If you like, this is a real safety technique - if you deviate from the course, the dish will die. At the same time, the oven will suffer.

  1. The jar must be dry, without cracks and labels. This is necessary so that under the influence of temperature it does not crack completely (the crack will go further, the juice will leak out), and the label will not burn.
  2. Do not fill the jar to the top. Remember, chicken is juicy meat, not dry, and when baked like this it gives a lot of its own juice. If there is no room left for it, it will leak onto the baking sheet. The chicken will be dry and tasteless.
  3. You cannot set the oven to a temperature higher than 180 degrees. Cooking chicken in a jar in the oven takes a long time - almost two hours - precisely because of the temperature limits. But the resulting dish is really healthy and tasty.
  4. There is no need to pour water over the chicken, just as the dish does not require oil. However, if you wish, you can add a piece of butter if you want the chicken to be fattier.
  5. Cold oven. You need to put the jar in and take it out of the cold fryer, otherwise it will burst.

Now let's move on to the recipe. The main thing is your imagination. The ingredients for a recipe for stewed chicken in the oven in a jar can be different, just like with regular baking on a baking sheet.

Classic recipe

The classic version of chicken dishes is to accompany them with vegetables. Juicy chicken meat perfectly absorbs all the flavors of carrots, peppers, onions or garlic. The result is amazing.

  1. We cut carrots and peppers into strips - they will cook faster and give better taste and aroma.
  2. Cut the onion into half rings and the fillet into small pieces. It is better to separate the fatty skin, as well as the pieces of fat on the meat.
  3. We cut the tomato into small pieces, and the cherry tomatoes in half.
  4. Season the chicken with a pinch of salt and seasonings.
  5. In a dry two-liter jar, place a drier layer of chicken in layers, then vegetables and again a layer of chicken, but fattier. We throw off pieces of fat and trimmed skin to the top.

  5. We turn on the oven at 120 degrees, gradually raising the temperature to 180°.
  6. Leave for 1.5 hours, looking through the glass window - if the chicken turns brown, giving juice, then it is ready. Do not open the oven during cooking, as the can may burst.
  7. Turn off the oven and leave to cool without opening for 30 minutes. Then open it slightly for 5 minutes, waiting until all the hot air comes out.

Secrets of cooking chicken

We looked at several recipes for cooking chicken in a jar in the oven with photos. We hope that dishes prepared in accordance with them will become a worthy decoration for the festive and everyday table.

Feel free to experiment and replace or completely abandon some ingredients other than the main one. You can add any vegetables, mushrooms, fruits or dried fruits.

The main thing is to follow all the rules for handling the jar, otherwise all your efforts will go down the drain:

  1. The jar must be intact, without any damage. All labels present must be removed.
  2. It is better to sterilize the food before preparing it. If you use a metal lid, we also sterilize it.
  3. Do not fill the jar to the very brim, as the chicken will release juices that may leak out completely. In this case, the chicken will turn out dry and tough.

The oven temperature cannot be set above 180 degrees. You won't be able to speed up the cooking process, but the jar may crack. And the more the bird languishes in its own juice, the more aromatic, tender and tastier it will be.

As already stated above, the chicken does not need to be covered with water or any other marinade. It contains enough juice to make the meat tender and juicy.

The jar should only be placed in a cold oven. Otherwise, the jar may simply burst due to temperature changes. For the same reason, it is necessary to take out the finished dish after the jar has completely cooled.
