Belgium bruges best beer restaurants. Restaurants

Going on a trip to a Belgian town, many tourists ask themselves: "Where can I eat?". Our article will help you decide on the choice of catering places and dishes that you should definitely try when you are in this wonderful place.

Where to eat cheaply in Bruges?

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find establishments that can boast of affordable food prices. The central part of the city and its outskirts are filled with cafes and restaurants, for lunch in which you will have to pay a tidy sum.

If you don’t intend to spend a lot of money, but still want to eat hearty, pay attention to burgers and fries - small stalls selling popular fast food dishes: sandwiches, french fries and much more. If you want to taste traditional national cuisine, while paying a little money, go to the restaurant "t'Oud Kantuys". Here you can have a great lunch or dinner for about 30 euros.

The best restaurants in the city
  1. The Huidevettershuis restaurant is famous for its Flemish soup, fried rabbit, delicious marinated herring. Vegetarians will like this place, because special dishes are prepared for them.
  2. Seafood lovers should visit the De Karmeliet restaurant, as fish soups, shrimp, and mussels are excellent here. In addition, visitors can taste various snacks, all kinds of salads, as well as cheese and cold cuts.
  3. The cozy Bhavan restaurant offers to plunge into the atmosphere of India and taste the delicacies of this country. If children went on a trip with you, then feel free to come to the restaurant with them, as the institution has a menu designed specifically for them.
  4. The small restaurant Brasserie Erasmus is popular with tourists because of the large selection of traditional Belgian appetizers, delicious rabbit cooked in beer sauce, mussels served with fried potatoes.
  5. The Thai restaurant Narai Thai treats you with delicious Thai dishes, the main ingredients of which are rice, chicken, pork, duck meat and a large number of fragrant spices. Be sure to try traditional Thai soups and sauces made from coconut milk, lemongrass, coriander and other spices.

Those who wish can go on a gastronomic tour around, which will introduce you in more detail to the best restaurants and cafes of the town and traditional dishes that you want to taste at least once again.

Before going on a short excursion to the neighboring town of Ostend, let's talk a little about where in Bruges you can eat deliciously and drink the famous Belgian beer. This vital topic always adds energy and optimism before the next excursion, right?

Let's start with breakfast. Although ... no, breakfast should be healthy, it is best if during breakfast you think about England and remember Sherlock Holmes. I'm talking about oatmeal, sir! But a little later, during the "promenade" along the tourist route No. 1, look into the small cozy coffee house De Proeverie (see on our map). Well, just a great place, good coffee, amazing desserts. And not to say that it would be fabulously expensive, it is quite affordable. Here are a couple of pictures taken during our visit:

Now about beer... And not just about beer, but about BEER! Famous Belgian beer! Did you know that Belgium and Bruges in particular are world famous for their special beers? I didn't know either. Well, I'm not a big fan of beer, what can I do ... I heard from friends about the wonderful Belgian beer "Leffe", I even tried to try it, though in Paris. Yes, and I tried cans, bought in a supermarket in Montmartre ... In general, I was not particularly impressed, as you might have guessed.

But here in Bruges, it's different! You should definitely try the Belgian beer here! And even if you don't drink beer at all, still go to the beer store "2be"! This spectacle impresses even those who prefer cross-stitch instead of beer :)

The store is located in the very center of Bruges, right next to the Nepomuk Bridge (see on our map). This is how it looks like:

There is also a beer bar "2be", where you can try the best Belgian beers, such as the famous Kwak

In good weather (and if you look at 2be, the weather will certainly be good), it is better to sit on the terrace overlooking the most beautiful places in Bruges. See the tables near the tree?

You can have a delicious lunch or dinner in Bruges in many places, there are enough establishments for every taste, color and budget. For gourmets, there are also three-star Michelin restaurants. But we will "land" a little and go to one quiet cozy restaurant under the intriguing name "The Hobbit" (De Hobbit). It is located in a quiet lane, in the center, at Kemelstraat 8 (see on our map

Pictured is the alley where the restaurant is located. See on the left a building with a crooked facade, with white chairs near the entrance? This is what he is. And opposite the beer "The habit", please do not confuse horseradish with mustard.

Inside is a very interesting interior, a lot of different "purely hobbit things"

But the main thing here is the atmosphere and delicious food! And finally, the long-awaited real Leffe!

Well, perhaps, and all about food and beer, let's get back to the main topic. In the next post, I will talk about our trip to Ostend, and then we will continue the story about Bruges and visit the chocolate museum.

In most restaurants, tourists will be offered a ready-made menu, the prices of which may vary depending on the dish. A simple three-course menu will cost at least 15 euros. The most popular dish is a casserole of mussels with French fries, which costs about 15 euros. In general, Boyugge restaurants cannot be called cheap: standard prices for a hot dish are around 20€.

Due to the proximity to France, most restaurants specialize in French or Belgian cuisine. The proximity of England is expressed in the fact that almost everyone speaks English and there is usually an English menu.

Most restaurants are concentrated on the central Markt square. But it’s worth taking a step a little to the side on Geernaastraat, and there you can find cute restaurants with a large selection of menus cheaper than on the Markt. Another popular spot is Dijver, close to the canal cruise station.
