In the 80s of the last century, the drink became famous in the USA, and only after that throughout the world. The drink belongs to the group of long drink cocktails; mojitos are served in large volumes (from 120 ml), adding a lot of ice. Cooling occurs due to the gradual melting of ice. The drink remains pleasant to the taste and cold for a very long time, so it becomes a real salvation on hot days.

Preparing a non-alcoholic mojito at home is not at all difficult, and the process will not take much time; the only difficulty in preparing the drink comes down to the following: it is very important to follow the preparation sequence. All the necessary ingredients can be found in a regular grocery store or supermarket.

Another feature of the drink is the scent of fresh mint. For a richer aroma, it is recommended to use peppermint. The leaves can be ground in a mortar, adding sugar and lime. If you don’t have a mortar, you can grind the ingredients with a spoon directly in the glass in which you will serve the drink.

Fresh mint scented drink

It is preferable to use cane sugar, but if it is difficult to find, regular sugar will do. If sugar cannot be consumed for some reason (for example, if you have diabetes), you can do without it altogether - you will get a drink with a refreshing sourness. Lime is not sold in every store, so if you can’t find it, you can replace it with regular lemon.

The recipe does not suggest a replacement for light rum - non-alcoholic mojitos are prepared with only sparkling water. If you can't find lime or just don't like the taste, you can add Sprite to your cocktail. Then the cocktail is suitable for both children and those for whom alcohol is contraindicated. In addition, there is a mojito recipe based on a chilled Schweppes carbonated drink.

Finding the ingredients is not particularly difficult. Next, we’ll figure out how to make a non-alcoholic mojito cocktail.

Variants of mojito based on sparkling water or Sprite vary in composition. But the following recipe is considered traditional.

For 5 servings of non-alcoholic cocktail you need:

  • 3 limes or lemons;
  • 2 liters of sparkling water without dyes;
  • 70 g mint;
  • sugar or honey of your choice. Honey makes the taste of the drink softer and richer;
  • citrus fruits - if desired, you can use sweeties, oranges or tangerines;
  • crushed ice (optional).

Non-alcoholic cocktail

Rinse mint, citrus fruits and lime well. Cut the limes into thin circles or slices without peeling them. Sort the mint and separate only the good fresh leaves from the stem. Place sugar or honey in a tall carafe, add mint and lime slices. Mix everything well and leave for a while. Then pour in soda or another drink (Sprite, Schwepps), stir until the honey (sugar) is completely dissolved. Then put it in the refrigerator for 3 hours to let the drink infuse.

It is better to serve mojitos in tall glasses with thick walls. You can put a little crushed orange or tangerine pulp on the bottom and add crushed ice. Then pour the cocktail into a glass, garnish with a colored straw, a lime ring or a few mint leaves. The total preparation time for the drink does not exceed 3 hours 30 minutes.

The taste of a non-alcoholic mojito will be slightly different from the taste of a traditional drink with rum. But you can make the drink a little differently, which will most accurately convey the taste of a real cocktail. To do this, you just need to slightly change the cooking sequence.

First, you need to wash the limes and mint and separate the leaves from the stem. Next you need to take a wide bowl, put lime pieces and mint leaves in it, mix well and crush until a paste forms. As a result, the pulp and leaves should turn into mush, but the zest should remain intact. It is better to do this work with a mortar and pestle, but if you don’t have them at hand, an ordinary bowl and spoon will do. This step is very important as the crushed ingredients give a richer flavor.

Lime and mint slurry

Pour honey or sugar into a tall and wide carafe. The quantity can be varied depending on your preferences. It is usually recommended to add 150 to 300 grams of sugar. A drink with a little sugar will be sour. Next, add a small amount of boiled water to the carafe, no more than 50 g. If you used honey instead of sugar, you do not need to add water.

Add the resulting slurry of lime and mint to the carafe and mix well with syrup or honey. Then take the sparkling water out of the refrigerator and pour it into the carafe. Pour the finished cocktail into glasses, garnish with lime wedges and mint leaves. Then there remains the last, most pleasant stage - enjoying the fresh taste of a healthy non-alcoholic mojito. To prepare a drink according to all the rules, you do not need to be a professional bartender - the cocktail can be prepared at home.

Why not make a more original drink, perhaps with the addition of fresh strawberries? At the height of summer, finding this component will not be difficult. And strawberries will give the drink a special piquancy.

For 1 serving:

  • 100 grams of sparkling water, Sprite;
  • 50 grams of boiled water;
  • 2 tbsp. l. sugar (1 tbsp honey);
  • 100 g strawberries;
  • mint;
  • crushed ice;
  • lime;
  • fresh basil (optional)

Cut the lime into quarters and place in a nice glass or thick glass. Separate the mint leaves from the stems, rinse, tear with your hands and place in a glass. Then crush the mint leaves and lime wedges with a spoon or pestle.

Fill the resulting slurry with ice so that the glass is almost full. Then pour in chilled soda or Sprite. Mix all contents carefully with a straw or spoon. You can add whole ice cubes to the glass and add straws.

Glass with strawberry mojito

You can use strawberries to make a mojito. The recipe will be the same as for strawberry, you just need to add strawberries to taste.

To please your loved ones with the unusual taste of the drink, you can prepare a cocktail known as Cherry Mojito - cherry mojito. It will appeal to those who love the bright aroma and taste of cherries. The freshness of lime goes well with the sourness and juiciness of cherries. Why not use this recipe?

First you need to wash the cherries (2 cups) and remove the pits. Combine the juice of 1/4 lime and zest and place in a tall glass or goblet. Add cherries, crushed ice and sugar. Mix everything thoroughly with a straw or spoon, pour in soda. Garnish the finished drink with mint and a slice of lime and can be served. Add whole ice cubes if needed.
