What you need for ladybug sandwiches. Ladybug sandwiches with tomatoes and cheese

If you want to decorate your table, we highly recommend making Ladybug sandwiches. They will invariably attract attention, especially if you are setting a holiday table for children. In addition, to prepare them you need very few ingredients - small tomatoes, olives, some herbs and bread.

On the golden lawn

First, let's prepare Ladybug sandwiches with tomatoes according to the classic recipe. For this we need cherry tomatoes, baguette, hard cheese, mayonnaise, dill and black olives.

First, grate the cheese on a coarse grater. It is advisable to take hard cheese of a rich yellow color, then it will look very bright in sandwiches. For those who like it spicy, add a little garlic to the grated cheese and lightly season with mayonnaise.

Cut the baguette into slices about 1 centimeter thick. Then we grease each of them with cheese not only on top, but also on the sides. Fresh dill (you can add parsley, cilantro, green onions) finely chop on a cutting board. If you want your ladybug to sit on a yellow field of cheese, then dip only the sides of the cheese-smeared bread into the greens. If you want to place this beautiful bug on a green lawn, then sprinkle the top of the sandwich with herbs.

Take a tomato, cut it in half, and then make a small cut on each half to create the effect of unfurling wings. Place this half of tomato on prepared bread with cheese and herbs. Now all that remains is to “finish” the face and the dots on the wings.

To do this, cut off a semicircular tip from the olive and place it where the ladybug should have a face. Cut the remaining olive into small pieces. We make small cuts on the tomatoes, where we insert pieces of olives - the black dots on the wings are ready. Place the sandwiches on a plate and place them in the refrigerator for half an hour to prevent the cheese from leaking.

That’s all, actually, a very beautiful “Ladybug” is ready - a sandwich, a photo of which you can safely take as a souvenir.

A little more filling

If you like to experiment, then this is the time to do it. Housewives can be creative and diversify the Ladybug sandwich. The photo and recipe we gave above are just one of many options for this quick dish. In fact, there are no restrictions here.

Ladybug sandwiches with tomatoes can come with a variety of fillings and toppings. If you are preparing them for a children's table, then they should be softer and not peppery. If you want to treat them to adults, you can add piquancy and spiciness.

Here's a delicious recipe for a ladybug sandwich that will look quite expensive. Spread butter on a black piece of bread, place a thin slice of red fish on top, and place a ladybug on top. For this option, in order to emphasize the nobility of this dish, the black dots on the tomatoes can be made not from olives, but from black caviar. Believe me, these “Ladybug” sandwiches can even be served to ambassadors at a buffet table!

Russian style

Tomatoes generally go well with a wide variety of foods. We suggest you try lard with garlic as a base. Grind the salted lard in a meat grinder, add garlic and pepper to it and spread this mixture evenly on the bread pieces. Place tomatoes on top - here's another recipe for you. If you really don’t have time, then you can simply cut the lard into thin slices or replace it with bacon. These Ladybug sandwiches are perfect for men as a snack.

Lightly salted herring would also be good. We follow the same scheme: take black bread, cut it into pieces 1 cm wide, grease with butter. Place thinly sliced herring slices on top of the sandwich. And already like the apotheosis of culinary fantasy - a ladybug.

Italian sophistication

We all know very well that tomatoes go well with cheese. We suggest you make Ladybug sandwiches without bread. They will be in Mediterranean style. For this we need mozzarella cheese, basil and, in fact, cherry tomatoes. We won't use bread.

So, cut the mozzarella into circles, put a basil leaf on them and then place a tomato in the shape of a ladybug. In this case, the black dots, which we previously recommended making from olives or black caviar, can be replaced with fried sesame seeds.

By the way, such a sandwich will be in the colors of the national flag of Italy: white, green, red. And this dish is just a godsend for those who are on a diet or watching their figure! After all, there is absolutely no bread here!

Slices of bread for sandwiches can be used both fresh and processed. For a more satisfying breakfast, we suggest you make a base of croutons. Beat two raw eggs, add a tablespoon of milk, salt and pepper. Dip the bread into this mixture and fry it in vegetable oil on both sides. Place the filling and the “ladybug” itself on this beautiful crouton.

To prepare this dish, you can use not only cherry tomatoes, but also other varieties of tomatoes. The main thing is that they are elastic and keep their shape, and the size does not matter.

Healthy and tasty

Many housewives are interested in how healthy cherry tomatoes are. It is known that they were bred relatively recently artificially. And the breeders specifically tried to make the tomatoes small in size, a little larger than a cherry. Actually, it was precisely because of their similarity to cherries in their volume that they got their name.

Despite artificial selection, these small tomatoes have the same beneficial properties as their larger counterparts. Cherry tomatoes contain large quantities of microelements necessary for the human body. These are potassium and calcium, magnesium and iron, phosphorus. They contain a lot of vitamins C, E, B and organic acids. Tomatoes contain natural antioxidants, which help remove harmful substances from the body.

And despite the large amount of useful substances, they have a very low calorie content. Therefore, during fasting or dieting, these tomatoes are simply irreplaceable on your table.

AND ingredients (for 12 pieces):

Cherry tomatoes - 6 pcs.
curd (cream) cheese - 100-120 g
cookies, crackers or slices of white bread - 12 pcs.
olives (preferably pitted) - 3 pcs. + 1-2 pcs. for registration
dill - 1 small bunch
parsley - for decoration

Rinse the dill thoroughly with water and dry. Chop the dill very finely with a knife (it should resemble grass).

Combine curd cheese with dill, mix well (Also, if desired, you can add chopped garlic clove to the cheese with herbs).

To make the “head” of a ladybug, you need to cut the olives in half (if you are using whole olives, then at this stage you need to remove the pits), cut each half in half again.

The “body” of the ladybug is cherry tomatoes, cut into 2 equal parts.

When the preparation of products for sandwiches is completed, you can begin to “assemble” the ladybug: first, spread the prepared curd cheese with dill in a thick layer on each cracker (or slice of bread).

Place a couple of parsley leaves and half a tomato on top. You can make a cut along the center of the tomato, which will resemble the opening wings of an insect, but keep in mind that if you prepare the sandwiches in advance, then a lot of juice may be released from the tomatoes when guests arrive.

Place a quarter of an olive on top of the tomato in the shape of a ladybug's head. Using a toothpick, place 2 white mayonnaise dots in the shape of insect eyes. The black dots on the “back” should be made from finely chopped olives.

Prepare the ingredients according to the list.

Cut the cheese into portions. If necessary, adjust the shape and size of the cheese pieces to match the size of the crackers or bread you plan to use.

Cut cherry tomatoes in half. Then, make a small cut and rotate the knife horizontally, slightly widening the cut line. Repeat the procedure with the remaining tomatoes.

Prepare the olives. Depending on the size of the tomatoes, cut the olives in half or into quarters.

Place saltine crackers on a serving plate. Instead of crackers, you can also use thin crispbread or pieces of baguette, toasted and seasoned with salt and spices, in the style of bruschetta. A base of crackers or bread is an optional component of the dish, but convenient for serving as a portioned snack.

Place a piece of cheese on each cracker. If desired, add a little salt, ground black pepper, a drop of olive oil or balsamic vinegar.

Place basil leaves.

Then arrange the halves of the prepared tomatoes.

Add the olive pieces.

Using a thin brush or toothpick, apply a drop of balsamic vinegar to the tomatoes, giving the tomato pieces a ladybug-like appearance (I use balsamic cream instead of vinegar). Or you can make small holes in the skin of the tomatoes and insert tiny pieces of olives into them - this will also give the snack the necessary red-black color.

If desired, add “eyes” to the ladybugs using mayonnaise or thick yogurt.

Decorate the plate with dill sprigs and serve the appetizer to the table.
