Where to buy cranberry sauce for meat. How to make cranberry sauce

The sauce can transform any dish if you choose it correctly. Today on store shelves you can find ketchups with different bouquets, specially selected for a particular type of meat, garlic, cheese and other sauces. However, they are unlikely to surprise guests. But if you prepare cranberry sauce for meat, then your guests and household members will probably be delighted. This sweet and sour sauce with a slight bitterness is ideal for pork, beef and other types of meat. At the same time, preparing it is not at all difficult; even a novice cook can cope with this task.

Cooking features

When starting to prepare a new dish, every housewife, even the most experienced, is slightly worried whether the result will live up to her expectations. However, using the advice of experienced chefs, you don’t have to worry about the result - the cranberry sauce will certainly turn out to be pleasant in taste and attractive in appearance.

  • You should not use unripe cranberries to make cranberry sauce. In this case, the bitter taste will be so pronounced that the sauce can be considered spoiled.
  • Before use, the berries must be washed and sorted, and then dried by pouring them onto a napkin.
  • You can cook cranberry sauce in any container except aluminum. The fact is that when this material comes into contact with acidic products, a reaction occurs, as a result of which substances harmful to the human body are formed.
  • You can thicken the sauce with flour or starch, but the use of these products is not necessary. If you cook the sauce long enough for some of the liquid to evaporate, it will also become quite thick.
  • Other berries and fruits and aromatic seasonings help add unusual notes to cranberry sauce. Most often, lingonberries, oranges, mangoes, garlic, ginger, lemon juice, dry wine, nutmeg, basil and parsley, as well as ground black pepper are added to it. It’s better to add spices a little at a time, tasting the sauce. In this case, you definitely won’t overdo it with spices, which should only highlight the taste and aroma of cranberries, and not interrupt it.
  • For the sauce, you can use not only fresh cranberries, but also frozen ones. To do this, you must first let it thaw at room temperature.
  • The finished sauce is usually ground through a sieve or crushed with a blender to give it a uniform consistency. If you use starch or flour to thicken the sauce, you must grind the berries after adding this ingredient.
  • Ready-made cranberry sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for several days, but to do this it must be placed in clean glass containers and tightly closed. It will be even better if you are not too lazy to sterilize these containers.

Cranberry sauce is most often served cold with meat, but it is also acceptable to use it hot - there are no strict rules on this matter.

Add 100 ml of water and simmer the cranberries and ginger over medium heat for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, grate the zest of one lemon.

It is a sweet and sour dressing mainly for meat and confectionery dishes, prepared from fresh or frozen cranberries. For example, the traditional American Thanksgiving turkey was, and still is, served exclusively with cranberry sauce.

This cranberry sauce can give a dish a unique, bright and festive taste. The sauce is unique in its own way, it is not difficult to prepare, and also very quickly, 5 minutes is enough.

Ingredients

  • cranberry 100 g
  • sugar 50 g
  • water 50 ml
  • corn starch 1 teaspoon

It’s best to use fresh cranberries, but if you can’t get them, frozen ones will do. I used frozen one.

Preparation

We prepare all the necessary ingredients. There is no need to defrost the cranberries in advance, but you need to rinse them a little in cold water.

Pour the berries into a saucepan or small saucepan and add sugar. Place on the stove and heat.

The berries will give juice.

While the cranberries are heating up, move on to the starch. Why am I even adding it? There are 2 reasons: 1. Starch gives the sauce a more elastic consistency. 2. The sauce will need to be cooked quite a bit, just until it boils, thanks to which the berries will retain more vitamins. Therefore, cranberry sauce will not thicken in a saucepan; this is where starch will help us.

So, pour 50 ml of cold water into a glass and add one teaspoon of starch to it, stir until completely dissolved. If you add starch to hot water, there will be lumps, if you add starch directly to the sauce, there will also be lumps.

When the sauce boils, add water and starch to it and mix well. In fact, the sauce is ready, but now it is not as thick as you want, so we leave the sauce on low heat for 2-3 minutes.

The sauce is ready. It can be used right away, but I personally prefer a softer and more homogeneous structure, so let’s work a little with a blender.

Now cranberry sauce definitely ready. All you have to do is wait until it cools down. With this sauce, even the most ordinary dish turns into a festive treat. The finished sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for two weeks. Well, I served the sauce for the cheesecakes. I also like cranberry sauce with or. Bon appetit!
